She is the adoptive sister of Georgia and Elliot, and adoptive daughter of Kimberely Miller and Hilery Kipnis. She was previously an X Factor (US) contestant with Britney Spears as her mentor, she finished in 9th place on the second season in 2012. She later signed to Hollywood Records/Syco and released her debut EP ''Young Blood'' on April 22 2014. Miller was born in Manhattan, New York, and lived in Brooklyn. She was adopted by Kimberley Miller and Hilery Kipnis at the age of four. Her parents adopted two more children and they moved to Maplewood, New Jersey as they could no longer afford their living situation.<ref name="sidewalktalkedm">SIDEWALKTALKEDM - "[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tolLbNxjA20 BEA MILLER Interview- lesbian parents, tough times, being breadwinner at 15]" (August 15 2018)</ref> Miller has two younger sisters, who are biological twins adopted from Vietnam: Esther and Georgia Miller. Miller attended family camp COLAGE ''(Children Of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere)'' in Massachusetts and grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey. Miller was introduced to music from a young age as her Mom worked as a vinyl DJ, playing songs by Led Zepplin, ACDC and Aretha Franklin as well as nursery rhymes, she credits her Mom for being the main reason she loves music so much. Miller grew up in a LGBTQ accepting environment/neighborhood, when she moved out of it, she was "thrown into the deep end" when she realized that not everyone is as accepting as the people in her hometown were.<ref name="sidewalktalkedm"/> Throughout her childhood, she realized that she communicated better through writing down her feelings and thoughts, and could not move on from something unless it was resolved.

In 2016, Hilery Kipnis changed her display name on Twitter to "childless mother", fans then questioned Bea who then revealed on Twitter that Kipnis stole money from her and abused her financially, stating that Kipnis ''"belittled me almost every single day, and would tell me that i wasn't working as hard as she was even though i was the one trying to make sure we could afford food"'', she mentioned that when she did start making more money, Kipnis refused to let her send it home to Kimberley and her little sisters, and instead secretively spent it on herself and would then tell Miller that they couldn't afford to help them. She revealed that in September of 2015 she moved back to New Jersey and lived with her Mother Kim and her little sisters.<ref></ref>
